Like the library itself, social media jobs are growing in popularity and becoming more and more important to the Kansas City community. I don’t know of any library that has a social media policy that doesn’t include creating online profiles and posting about their services. The Kansas City Public Library does have a social media policy where anyone in good standing can create a profile (at least, as a part-time volunteer) and post about the library.
I find this policy odd, because some people are creating profiles that are not part-time volunteers. I think this policy should include any person who has an internet connection and can post and share on the internet. The idea that if someone is in good standing they can just create a social media profile and post whatever they want as long as it’s on their internet connection seems a rather stupid one to me.
